Christian Jochum, born in 1959, diploma with honours in Agricultural economics, works since 1997 for the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, where he is in charge of all aspects of the food chain. His special fields of activity are the issues of food quality, promotion on food and all aspects of the relationship among the partners of the food chain. He is member and chair of several European bodies and working groups.
Regarding the quality topic he is a convinced advocate of differentiated markets. As societies and consumers are more and more multi-faceted and diverse, so food should be. In the beef sector he was engaged in developing training programmes to diversify the beef commodity and to improve the quality by quality assurance schemes.
He is familiar with the possibilities of the CAP to foster food quality and to do promotion on European food and quality products.
