Biography

He was born on November 18, 1953 in the village of Ogrodniki near Białystok.
From 1994 to 1998 he was the vice president and then president of the city of Bialystok.
In the years 1997 – 2003 he was a Member of the Republic of Poland with the support of the PC.
In the years 2003–2005 he was a senator of the Republic of Poland.
From 2005 to May 2019 he was a member of the Polish Parliament.
In the period November 2005 – May 2006 he was the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
From May 2006, he was continuously the vice-chairman of the Law and Justice Parliamentary Club in the Parliament of the Republic of Poland.
During the sixth term of office of the Parliament, he was the vice-chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
VII term of office of the Parliament: he was the chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the period from November 2015 to June 2018 he was the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
From July 2019 he is a Member of the European Parliament. He is a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI).
